Ultimate Peru Adventure
From Incan ruins to mountains to rainforests, Peru has it all and will surely offer any traveler the adventure of a lifetime! This tour covers most highlights of Peru, including Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, the Amazon Rainforest, Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake, the Nazca Lines, Colca Canyon, and much more! Exploring a variety of habitats, we will encounter wildlife like alpacas, llamas, vizcachas, and a multitude of birds, including Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Andean Condor, Titicaca Grebe, flamingoes, hummingbirds, quetzals, macaws, toucans, endemics, and many more of Peru’s 1,800+ bird species!
Day 1 - Arrival Day
Arrival to Cusco and welcome dinner. The Amazon Rainforest pre-tour group will be joining the main group.
Day 2 - Sacred Valley
Depart to the Sacred Valley. Visit hummingbird feeders in Chinchero Inca Village. Enjoy a guided tour of Ollantaytambo and Inca villages.
Day 3 - Machu Picchu
Take an early morning train ride to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided exploration amongst these incredible Incan ruins and take in the breathtaking surrounding mountain landscape.
Day 4 - Humantay Lake
Choose one of three options today: hike to Humantay Lake, go birding around the area, or explore Cusco city on your own.
Day 5 - Rainbow Mountain
Choose one of two options today: hike or take a horse ride up Rainbow mountain and enjoy the stunning colorful views of this unique mountain, or enjoy birding around the area. Evening drive to Puno.
Day 6 - Lake Titicaca
Explore Lake Titicaca to look for the Titicaca water frog, Titicaca vizcacha, Andean fox, and Titicaca Grebe. Visit the unique Uros Floating Village and partake in the cultural traditions of these special people. Evening drive to Arequipa.
Day 7 - Salinas y Aguada Nature Reserve
Journey to Salinas y Aguada Nature Reserve to look for flamingos, ducks, condors, eagles, hummingbirds, vicunas, llamas, alpacas, foxes, and rabbits, all while being immersed in the incredible scenery of salt flats, volcanoes, and hot springs.
Day 8 - Colca Canyon
Spend the morning at Colca Canyon, enjoying the views over the valleys, and watch the magnificent Andean Condors soaring gracefully. Flight to Lima.
Day 9 - Paracas & Ballestas Islands / Huacachina Oasis Town
Drive to Paracas for a boat tour to Ballestas Islands (Poor Man’s Galapagos) to observe Humboldt penguins, sea lions, dolphins, and sea birds. Continue to the unique Huacachina Oasis Town.
Day 10 - Nazca Lines
Choose one of two options today. Take a helicopter tour over the mysterious Nazca Lines, or enjoy a Nazca Lines and Archeological Walking Tour. Drive back to Lima with birding stops along the way.
Day 11 - Departure
Departure flights home.
Amazon Rainforest Pre-tour Extension
Explore Manu National Park in Peru’s Amazon Rainforest lowlands. Enjoy birding and searching for wildlife in this cloud forest and transitional jungle habitat looking for Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, spectacled bear, monkeys, amphibians, mammals, and butterflies. Visit a clay lick that attracts an outstanding number of parrots, macaws, parakeets, and other birds. Look for nocturnal birds, insects, amphibians, and mammals during nighttime outings.
